New Residential Development Proposed Near Hull’s Victoria Dock

Plans have been submitted to East Riding Council for a new residential four-storey development on the edge of Hull’s Victoria Dock. It would be built on the west side of Route 1, just north of South Bridge Road. It seeks to create 24 housing units, including 20 two-bedroom apartments and four one-bedroom apartments.

The development is part of a series of ongoing projects on the eastern side of the River Hull, which is experiencing a notable surge in residential construction. Among these is the East Bank Urban Village where they’ll see plans for over 850 new homes and other commercial development. The new, proposed development is an impressive commitment to continuing the need for housing development in the space. In doing so, it seeks to address the increasing demand for residential units.

The application site is REALLY easy to find if you look on Google. It features a large open green space teeming with about fifty trees, and it is visible from South Bridge Road. Encircling the site are historic and existing context buildings, adding to its urban condition.

According to a heritage impact assessment conducted for the proposal, the development “would not unduly impact upon the residential and commercial amenity of neighbouring occupants.” This approach offers comfort to the local community of residents and business owners that the project will respect the character and livability of their community.

Optimistically, community representatives have been enthusiastic about the new housing breakthroughs that would harmonize community interests with the improvement of local infrastructure.
