The upcoming headquarters aims to be an integral part of Woking’s town centre regeneration, reflecting the charity’s commitment to embedding social value within the community’s development plans. The Lighthouse, based in Surrey, and working mainly in Woking. It also has bases in Guildford, Aldershot and Barnsbury, giving it the ability to touch down with vulnerable populations across the entire south-east.
The Duchess of Sussex serves as the patron of The Lighthouse, emphasizing the charity’s importance and the support it provides. Her recent visit to the site allowed staff and volunteers to share updates on the progress of the new headquarters.
“We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness and share the progress being made,” said a spokesperson from The Lighthouse.
While on her visit, conversations focused on the future redevelopment plans. This campaign will greatly increase this charity’s capacity to serve the community’s most vulnerable people.
“The conversation explored how the redevelopment will strengthen the charity’s ability to support vulnerable people in the community while embedding social value at the heart of Woking’s town centre regeneration,” the spokesperson added.
This new partnership with JRL Group is a huge milestone for The Lighthouse. This keeps its services alive and growing, and fits well with Woking’s broader plans for continued redevelopment in favor of denser, mixed-use development. The charity is committed to addressing issues of poverty and social isolation. They deliver critical resources to the people who need them most.
As The Lighthouse looks toward the opening of its permanent new headquarters, it remains on the front lines fighting for social justice and community sustainability. The charity’s growth is an encouraging sign that the future looks rosy for its efforts. Most importantly, it heralds the growing tide toward valuing social value within our built environments.
