Beloved Veteran Sam Docherty to Bid Farewell at MCG

Inspirational and much-loved defender Sam Docherty will run out on Saturday for his 184th and farewell match. He’ll be captaining the Carlton Blues as they take on the Hawthorn Hawks at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). At 31 years old, Docherty has played an incredible role on the AFL during his nine-year career. This game marks the last in the illustrious career of both he and his club.

Docherty in his final game in a highly anticipated tussle against Hawthorn. Fans are equally looking forward to the return of Will Day in this explosive showdown. Unfortunately, Day has been out of the lineup since round three due to injury. His near future return has generated a lot of excitement and hope among Hawks supporters. The Blues will be happy to have key forward Harry McKay back, returning for his eighth game this season. His return will make them a more dangerous attacking unit.

On top of McKay’s return, Carlton have brought back Blake Acres for added midfield support. It can’t hurt Hawthorn right now to be dealing with these set-backs.
