Bremer River Flooding Persists, Easing Expected

The Bremer River has surged above major flood levels in several areas, prompting concern across the region. On Monday afternoon, the river reached a peak of 6.80 metres at Rosewood, although it has since receded to approximately 5.62 metres. Meanwhile, at Walloon and Five Mile Bridge, the river remains above major flood levels. In contrast, Ipswich narrowly avoided reaching major flood levels, though the water level remains high near the CBD.

In Kalbar, the Bremer River's water level is anticipated to drop below major flood levels early on Tuesday. As of now, the river is recorded at 9.32 metres and is expected to continue its descent through the morning. Despite these fluctuations, a major flood warning remains in effect for the Logan River, underscoring the potential for further impact in the surrounding areas.

Residents near Laidley Creek are also advised to remain alert as a minor flood warning is in place. Before 2 a.m., the water level at Laidley Creek measured 11.32 metres. These warnings highlight the ongoing risk of flooding in the region and the need for continued vigilance.

The situation along the Bremer River, particularly in areas like Walloon where it peaked at 10.44 metres on Monday evening, continues to be monitored closely by authorities. While Ipswich has been spared from reaching major flood levels, the overall conditions indicate a persistent threat that requires attention from both residents and emergency services.
