Football Fans Rejoice as Optus Sport Content Transitions to Stan Sport

Australian football fans will continue to enjoy uninterrupted access to their favorite competitions as Stan Sport announces a new agreement with Optus Sport. This change is already in place and goes into effect retroactively! Subscribers can now enjoy the Premier League, FA Cup, Japan’s J.League and the US National Women’s Soccer League easily with access included on Stan Sport.

Stan Sport has agreed to an unspecific annual fee with a minimum upfront payment of $20 million to import Optus Sport’s content. Aside from this payment, Stan will be paying for the upcoming round of Premier League TV rights. This partnership seeks to protect existing Optus Sport subscribers with an easy transition. Further, it cements Stan’s position as Australia’s leading sports broadcasting, streaming platform.

Optus Sport customers will be provided with further information and exclusive offers on their transition to Stan. Our intent is to make the experience as easy and rewarding as possible. We hope to make your experience, which features all the fantastic football content that Optus already has, even better.

Seamless Transition for Subscribers

The move from Optus Sport to Stan Sport puts the goal of never missing a minute of football in action front and centre for subscribers. Fittingly inscrutable, an Optus spokesperson told us, “Our primary aim was to get a home for Optus Sport content. Our goal was to push the game forward and make sure that all Optus Sport subscribers continue to have seamless access to the best football content they love.”

Under the terms of the deal, current Optus Sport subscribers will be able to continue enjoying these landmark competitions. Stan Sport will house this content, ensuring that football lovers across Australia continue to enjoy high-quality broadcasts without disruption.

Additionally, Nine — Stan’s parent company — is really confident about Stan’s ability to deliver an outstanding sports programming. “We are excited to bring these world-renowned events to Australians on Stan Sport,” said Nine’s Director of Sport Production, Tom Malone.

A Bright Future for Football Broadcasting

As part of this deal, Stan Sport cements its position as Australia’s leading destination for sports broadcasting. Matt Stanton from Nine underscored how vital it was to get these rights. He announced, “Between the Premier League and this purchase of the FA Cup, Nine has consolidated its claim as Australia’s home of sport.”

With the addition of Japan’s J.League and the US National Women’s Soccer League, subscribers now have access to a wider variety of content. This expansion significantly deepens their viewing experience. This comprehensive approach ensures that football fans will have access to a wide range of competitions that cater to diverse interests within the sport.

Stephen Rue, CEO at Optus, said the legacy of Optus Sport made him proud. He added, “Optus Sport has provided exceptional quality local sports broadcasting to Australian football fans for close to the last decade. This transition is seen as a major positive move forward with improving how football content can be delivered across Australia.

Looking Ahead

As Stan Sport prepares for this thrilling new chapter, it’s not losing sight of what brought them here—stellar sports content. The deal does enhance the home viewing experience for existing subscribers. It sets an incredible precedent for sports broadcasting growth in the future.
