Tension Builds as AFLW Final Round Approaches

The deadline for the last round of the AFLW home and away season is coming up quickly. Both teams and their fans are excitedly pumped and nervously anxious! With North Melbourne firmly at the top of the ladder, boasting an impressive 23 unbeaten games, the stakes are particularly high for several clubs vying for a spot in the finals. Expect the ending of regular-season play to be a nail-biter — as much for fans of the teams still competing, as for the teams themselves.

North Melbourne has done enough to lock in its minor premiership, meaning they will carry a wave of confidence into the finals. The team’s near-untouchable performance all season has consistently left the team ranked as favorites to win the championship. On the other hand, Hawthorn plays an important match against North Melbourne on Friday night that could have huge repercussions on their top eight hopes. Predicting Hawthorn On the surface, it looks like the Hawks are in a comfy spot. A loss would send them tumbling out of the top two.

In the other semi-final, Melbourne meet Geelong, while Brisbane play Collingwood. Each winner of the two matches would be in a very strong position to advance to the finals. All four sides have been in impressive form, and winning these matches would significantly increase their odds of earning a coveted home final.

With Sydney and Fremantle sitting in ninth and tenth on the ladder, the game is still very much in the balance. Both clubs would be outside the top eight on percentage at the moment. This renders their path to the finals extremely steep. Port Adelaide and Geelong have faced a similar conundrum, both sitting on the dark side of the eleventh and twelfth respectively. Despite their odds of reaching the finals seeming dismally bleak, they still have a mathematical chance of making it.

Currently, eleven contenders remain in the running for a place in the finals. This season has been terribly – hideously – imbalanced – other than North Melbourne. With the final round looming nearby, the pressure is continuing to build for so many clubs. Teams like the Blues, currently fifth, have experienced mixed results, winning only two of their last four matches. St Kilda and West Coast are both aiming to reach their maiden finals series, adding further intrigue to the final matchups.

Hawthorn’s next game against North Melbourne would be a historic for AFLW. Additionally, it will be the first time these two teams have ever faced each other. This year’s matchup adds an additional layer of excitement. Both teams have something to prove as they advance to the championship!
