Abbey Holmes Welcomes Baby Boy Braxton John Brooksby

Abbey Holmes, an outstanding talent on the Seven commentary team, recently welcomed a wonderful new addition to her family. She gave birth to her first child last Friday, June 6th! The baby boy, named Braxton John Brooksby, also affectionately known as Brax, was born via cesarean section at 5:49 PM and weighed 3.585 kilograms at birth.

Holmes is a member of the Seven commentary team since 2018. She now takes to Instagram to share the happy news that her miracle baby has arrived — and the joy she’s feeling is palpable. Her birth had a dramatic and unforeseen complication that turned her world upside down. Abbey soon discovered that her baby’s head was “faaaar too big,” making them abandon their original plans for an at-home birth.

Abbey Holmes Abbey is another product of Australia’s booming football scene. She was an inaugural member of the Adelaide Crows’ AFLW side and played a game with the Hawthorn Hawks. In 2019, she was in Australia for a year with the West Coast Eagles. Her husband, Keegan Brooksby, has a recently-acquired history in the AFL as a former player himself. The couple wed in the Northern Territory this year after Keegan popped the question at Uluru in 2020.

In her humorous birth announcement for Brax, Abbey shared her thoughts on what it was like to bring him into the world.

“Mummy labored all day on Friday, only for me to be born via c-section at 5:49 PM on 6/6 weighing 3.585 kg’s. My head was faaaar too large so we had to change our plans late in the piece! I’m suuuuuuuuuper cute & Mum and Dad are obsessed with me!” – Abbey Holmes

The announcement was met with huge excitement from their friends, fans and the music industry. Kylie Gillies commented, congratulating the new parents by saying, “Brax to the max! Congrats Gillies family. One more fan added, “Congrats y’all he’s so handsome I love his name Braxton.

Looking back on her birthing experience, Abbey said she gained an appreciation for the power the human body, especially a woman’s body, has.

“As you can imagine, it was a bit of a shock given what I had just put my body through, but I’m in awe of what the human body can do,” – Abbey Holmes

Her emotionally honest updates and open sharing of her birthing experience connected deeply with the millions who tuned in to watch her journey unfold. Abbey balances life as a new mom and as an entrepreneur. Fans can’t wait to hear more from Brax and the whole new adventure for their growing young family.
