Fans poured into the stadium hours before kickoff, buzzing with excitement at the prospect of an unforgettable clash. The buzz around the stage grew as Teddy Swims was getting ready to perform. He sure made the Bay Area pre-game entertainment scene a whole lot more colorful.
The match started the way all Brisbane Broncos fans hoped it would. They made quick work of asserting their dominance, scoring a mere six points in the entire first half. On the other hand, the Melbourne Storm were unable to get their place. New Broncos half Adam Reynolds went 6/6 from the tee on his debut, converting Kotoni Staggs’ first try to signal the Broncos’ intent early on. Deine Mariner kicked things off with a long-range beauty that defined Brisbane’s dominance.
As the match progressed, Reece Walsh showcased his skills by bouncing off a tackle and offloading a crucial pass, further solidifying Brisbane’s lead. At half time, Brisbane appeared to be in complete control at 6-0.
The luck would start to change when Melbourne Storm got into stride. A Melbourne comeback was sparked by Nick Meaney, who crossed for a try and converted it himself afterwards. That made the score a much more even 6-6. This change of momentum revived the Storm and raised the stakes even further on the field.
The level of the game definitely increased, as both squads battled for control. That second half turned into a knockout spot contest blow for blow with tremendous skill, talent and guts being displayed by both teams.
