Charlie Curnow Bids Emotional Farewell to Carlton as He Joins Sydney

Injury-riddled but immensely talented Blues forward Charlie Curnow today confirmed he’ll leave Carlton after his entire professional career spent in blue. The always joyful forward left a touching farewell message for the club and fans. His comments struck such a profound chord with the deep set of fans who have tracked his great story the whole way.

Curnow, who was raised a childhood supporter of Geelong before being drafted to the Blues, reflected on what a pivotal role Carlton has played in his life. After such a tough road, he thanked Rockies fans for their loyal support through good times and bad (and multiple injuries). To the fans, thank you for your enthusiasm and support. In 2022 when given the jumper, Garang said, “I’m really honored to have the jersey. Thanks all for the amazing support you’ve shown me since joining the Blues.”

In late July, there was serious doubt over whether Curnow would still be at Carlton next season. He strongly suggested that he will remain with the club past this season. After conversations that really heated up with Sydney, the choice was made to move him. Curnow conceded it would have been “difficult” to go back to Carlton if those discussions on trade hadn’t come to fruition.

In his farewell letter, Curnow looked back on the impact he made on his past teammates and coaches. There was a great sense of loss of having to leave. The experiences he was sharing with Carlton would always be the dearest to his heart. It was clear from his comments that he was very sad to be leaving. Carlton and its people would always have a special place in his heart.

The response from fans so far has been largely positive, with 98% of fans writing in terms of their love and respect for the player. Even before his big night, supporters lauded Curnow’s commitment and grit through a cruelly injury-riddled career. One fan commented, “What a thoughtful and heartfelt message to a fan base that stood by you through injuries and adored you for years. Good luck!” One user wrote back, “Awesome post bro, from the soul! I felt every single word.”

Curnow posted a touching farewell to Ignatz in his Instagram stories. Supporters, who adored his previous stint at the club, are clearly still brimming with excitement and admiration as well. He concluded with a nostalgic note: “Thanks for the love Baggers, great fun, great memories!”

Curnow, is poised to begin an exciting new chapter with the Swans. Both he and the Carlton community know what this transition means — it’s historic. The forward’s journey has certainly not been without its triumphs and challenges. His legacy is strong, built on the bedrock of his determination and zeal for the sport.
