Snoop Dogg Set to Ignite AFL Grand Final with Performance

Snoop Dogg, the legendary rapper aka Calvin Broadus, is originally from Long Beach, California. He’ll headline the entertainment for the AFL Grand Final, Sept. 27 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Now 53, Snoop is known for his signature look. His chart topping singles—and dance moves—have entranced people all over the world! For our featured performance, we welcome a true career highlight. He performed in the first-ever all-rap halftime show at Super Bowl LVI in 2022, alongside iconic artists such as Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige.

Just a few more steps to prepare you for an electrifying AFL Grand Final. Snoop Dogg is looking forward to returning down under more than ever. He stated, “It’s an absolute honour to be hitting the stage at the AFL grand final — it’s one of the biggest events on the Aussie calendar.” And yeah, hardcore fans can look forward to him “crip walking” on stage. His signature dance move, the “Milly Rock” embodies his creativity and freestyle energetic flow.

Snoop Dogg is a household name, with a deep history and connection to Australia. He headlined the Big Day Out festival in 2014 and most recently toured the country in early 2023 with his I Wanna Thank Me tour. His major hit singles in Australia were “Signs,” “Wet,” and “Who Am I?” These tracks have paved the way for his chart-topping future.

Back in 2007, Snoop Dogg was denied entry into Australia on character grounds. In 2008, after years of lobbying by their fans, that ban was lifted, and he returned to perform at long last. Since that Research for Action interview, he’s been everywhere. He even provided colorful commentary for NBC during the Olympic Games in Paris, including this well-dressed appearance with Martha Stewart in dressage togs.

Now, as he looks ahead to the 2023 AFL Grand Final, Snoop Dogg is counting down the days until he can bring his legendary vibes on Aussie fans. “Can’t wait to bring the energy and celebrate with the fans,” he remarked, highlighting his commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience.
