Emergency services responded swiftly to a stabbing incident that occurred on Homer Street at Moonee Ponds in Melbourne’s northwest at approximately 4:35 PM on Monday. Two men got into an argument that escalated and alarmed other pedestrians. Citizens didn’t hesitate to dial 911 and the police and medical first responders were immediately dispatched to the scene down the hill.
Witnesses told police the shooting started after an argument between the two men developed. Things got out of hand when one of the other people pulled out a knife. It was during this confrontation that he used the weapon to stab the other man, causing severe injuries. The culture and nature strip outside Moonee Ponds Central was alive with sound and color. Soon, shoppers and other residents living in the area became alarmed.
Within minutes of the disaster, authorities had for the first time confirmed their arrival. With little time to spare, they immediately judged the situation and sprinted towards the wounded man. Shortly thereafter, an ambulance took him to a regional medical center for specialized care. The nature of the severity of his injuries have not been released.
