Anthropic, the AI research company, is now reeling from huge negative user backlash. As per this discontent, recent changes would see tight usage limit implementation for its Claude Code service. Super utilizers, especially those on the $200 Max plan, have recently encountered issues that are significantly slowing their project progress. These issues have caused widespread concern about the long-term sustainability of this pricing model.
Today, the $200 Max Claude plan is one of their most popular plans among users. It features usage limits for $499 a month that are 20 times higher than the Pro subscription. Yet, real users on this plan have run into unforeseen limitations. These restrictions make it impossible for them to fully utilize the service. According to the latest reports, heavy users are the ones first running into issues with Claude. These users use features that are only available in the Max plan.
One user expressed frustration over the recent changes, stating that it has become “impossible to advance his project since the usage limits came into effect.” This user explained that his $200 Max plan would have him making over $1000 in a single day of calls. With this feature, he found himself marveling most. Now all users get a Claude usage limit reached message. This notice does have a reset time included, but it still leaves them in the dark about their real usage situation.
Further complicating matters, another user highlighted discrepancies in Anthropic’s tracking of usage limits, claiming that it is no longer accurate. In the face of these criticisms, Anthropic continues to assert that the free user cap is not a hard value. Users are flocking to Claude Code’s GitHub page to air their disgruntlements, demanding answers as to what exactly went wrong.
Clarity over the challenges Anthropic has made early attempts to acknowledge these challenges as reported by its users. An official representative stated, “We’re aware that some Claude Code users are experiencing slower response times,” and added, “and we’re working to resolve these issues.” Despite these reassurances, users are still worried about how these limitations will affect their work.
The Pro plan comes with limits that are five times higher than the free version. Despite the improvements, most users feel it still doesn’t measure up to the formerly user-friendly Max plan. Others have reported hitting the 900 messages cap in less than 30 minutes because of the limits. Now, this perfect storm demonstrates the profound need for a solution.
Anthropic is still furiously innovating to address these advancing worries. It is now under fire for whether its current pricing regimes are sustainable in the long-run, especially for those that use in high volumes. This has left many wondering if the company can continue to deliver on its promise of user satisfaction while ensuring that the operation is sustainable.
