Apple Releases iOS 26.2 Bringing New Features and Navigation Updates

Apple has just released, officially, iOS 26.2! From smarter editing tools to more powerful performance, this update brings a world of powerful new tools and features across all your favorite creative applications. This update brings significant changes to the Reminders, Apple News, Apple Music and Podcasts apps. It expands upon the beautiful Liquid Glass design language that first appeared in iOS 26.

The biggest addition you’ll notice is how alarms are now integrated into the Reminders app. Users can now customize the exact time of their reminders, taking productivity to the next level by making sure important to-dos can’t be missed. This new feature is designed to provide a more efficient way to plan each day and tackle tasks to help users stay on schedule and organized.

iOS 26.2 radically reimagines news consumption for everyone with a mind-blowing new Following tab. You can get to it right at the bottom of the navigation bar in the Apple News app! This new Favorites tab is designed to help regular readers quickly find their favorite publications and topics for a more curated reading experience. That’s only the start of the app’s accessibility improvements — more navigation changes have been made throughout the app to further promote accessibility and user engagement.

Apple Music lands a new offline lyrics feature, consolidating your downtime reads. Today, users can karaoke to their favorite hits 24/7—even when they’re offline! This feature comes in response to the growing demand for offline capabilities among music streaming services. This allows consumers to access the programming they love whenever, wherever, and however they want!

In addition to the Podcasts app, media is receiving major upgrades with the arrival of iOS 26.2. It recently added AI-generated chapter markers for podcast episodes, helping listeners find their way through each episode’s content more easily. The new Podcast Mention feature gives creators the power to easily mention and link to other shows in their episodes. This encourages collaboration and accelerates discovery between pod creators.

Here’s everything that’s new, fresh, and hot in Podcasts on iOS 26.2. These changes were made in full to improve your overall user experience. It’s great to see these updates continue the trend of Apple making its software more robust and better catering to the user.

Alan Dye, the wizard behind the Liquid Glass interface design, which put the ‘Whoa!’ into iOS 7, is leaving Apple. With that announcement, he’ll be officially joining Meta and making a career-defining shift. Dye’s exit represents a big change for the company. He will now lead a new creative studio within Reality Labs at Meta. Stephen Lemay COUNTERPOINT His successor at Apple, Stephen Lemay, is already having success. He has a wealth of experience in interface and interaction design, which will guarantee the further evolution of Apple’s software aesthetic.
