Bevel Secures $10 Million Series A Funding to Revolutionize Health Tracking

Founded in 2014 by industrial designer Christopher Bick, the Manhattan-based Bevel has recently raised $10 million in Series A funding from General Catalyst very successfully. This new round of capital will power Bevel’s mission to democratize health through intelligence and design. It will make health tracking possible for a far greater segment of the population. The company’s innovative approach consolidates data from wearables and daily habits across sleep, fitness, and nutrition into personalized insights for users.

Founded by Grey Nguyen, Aditya Agarwal, and Ben Yang, Bevel is on a mission to change the way people interact with their health. Over the last 12 months, the profitability-focused startup has seen incredible growth. It has multiplied its user base by more than eight times and is now pulling in over 100,000 daily active users. Bevel users spend a truly astounding eight times per day, interacting with the app. Plus, retention rates skyrocket over 80% after 90 days!

Nguyen, who previously led product development at Sam Altman-backed Campus, expressed the challenges faced by many individuals when seeking clarity about their health. “Nothing pointed out what was actually causing my back pain, not even my doctors, which is crazy, right?” she stated. This personal experience is a primary motivator for Bevel’s mission of delivering actionable health information.

Agarwal, Bevel’s co-founder and CTO, said that access is crucial for every health tracker. “A $500 ring or band is out of reach for a lot of people,” he noted. Their pricing model is insurmountably low, at $6 monthly or $50 a year. This streamlined process improves access by removing financial barriers, allowing people to better track and maintain their health.

General Catalyst’s managing director, Neeraj Arora, voiced strong support for Bevel’s mission. “Bevel’s mission to democratize health through intelligence and design deeply resonates with us,” he commented. Arora’s support is a huge vote of confidence in Bevel’s potential to make a profound impact on the health tech landscape.

“We think of health as a continuous journey, not a phase,” said Nguyen. This philosophy underpins Bevel’s user experience, encouraging individuals to engage with their health consistently rather than viewing it as a temporary endeavor.

The startup’s technology offers a differentiating solution with its ability to connect a variety of data points. With the new app, users can get personalized insights based on their sleep, activity and eating habits. This comprehensive user-centered process equips users to make informed decisions by imparting essential health information. It underscores issues that are so easy to miss in conventional clinical environments.

For example, Bevel’s co-founder Ben Yang has machine learning experience from his time at Opendoor. This technical background has been instrumental in continuing to refine the algorithms behind Bevel’s personalized insights. The app successfully combines intelligent design with intelligent technology. Its overarching goal is to empower users to understand and improve their individual health.

As Bevel continues to grow and innovate, its leadership remains focused on fulfilling the vision of making health tracking intelligent and accessible. The recent funding will enable the team to enhance their platform further and extend their reach, ensuring that more individuals can engage with their health proactively.
