Edits App Surges with Over 7 Million Downloads in First Week, Outpacing CapCut

Edits, a Chandigarh-made new video editing app has taken a stunning entry at the app market. After only a week, it rocketed past 7 million downloads and counting! That’s a massive 112x the launch size of rival CapCut’s, illustrating Edits’ swift embrace among the user base.

The app was released on Earth Day, April 22, and soon exploded. In its initial 48 hours, it surpassed 702,900 downloads on iOS devices alone. On its release day, Edits became the #1 app on the App Store charts of all U.S. iPhone devices. It topped both the Top Overall Apps and Top Apps – No Games list. Its meteoric rise was not without serious competition. By the second day it had fallen to No. 2 on both charts.

In the first three days after its launch, Edits quickly became the most popular new feature. It has done so to the tune of 381,000 downloads just in the United States. At this stage, it was the No. 14 Overall♻️ It reached a peak of No. 2 ranking among all non-game apps in U.S. App Store. The rapid adoption of Edits not only bolstered its visibility but set a precedent for increased competition in the video editing app sector.

As of Thursday, Edits is on a much larger national scale. Since its initial release it has reached 1.2 million downloads on iOS and an astounding 5.9 million downloads on Android, 7.1 million downloads overall. This number highlights Edits’ dominant market position, particularly in striking contrast to CapCut’s success. In its first full three days CapCut maxed out at 83,500 combined downloads on iOS and Android. Once it had its U.S. debut, the struggle was all too real, garnering a mere 3,400 downloads.

Industry analysts attribute Edits’ success to its user-friendly interface. They further tout draws such as robust, built-in analytics, an ad-free experience, support for 4K video editing, and watermark-free exports. These consumer-oriented features have been lauded by users and the tech press alike, helping to account for its blistering download pace.

By Friday, Edits fell to No. 3 on the charts, but that initial success laid a stable groundwork for rapid growth in the days ahead. This very clearly sets up the brand for huge market share growth. The app’s impressive performance is a testament to the growing need for powerful, yet user-friendly editing solutions among video professionals and everyday creators alike.
