Meta has launched significant updates to its metaverse platform during a recent event, introducing a new lineup of fall virtual reality (VR) games. Among the highlighted titles are Marvel’s Deadpool VR, ILM’s Star Wars: Beyond Victory, and Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked, along with Reach.
In addition to the new game announcements, Meta is releasing Hyperscape Capture into Early Access. This bold new addition allows owners of the Quest line of devices to turn their rooms into lush virtual environments in just minutes worth of scanning. This captured space instantly becomes an immersive, photorealistic digital twin. This gives users unprecedented opportunity to engage with their real-world spaces in completely new ways.
Meta initially revealed what could be done with Hyperscape at last year’s Connect conference. The technology employs leading-edge techniques such as Gaussian Splatting and cloud rendering to create hyper-realistic virtual worlds. You can check them out in full sensory detail on the new Meta Quest 3 headset.
We plan to slowly bring on more people into Hyperscape Capture. This soft launch will be limited exclusively to users 18+ who own a Quest 3 or Quest 3S. The capture process is fast and only takes a few minutes. Users should be prepared for the room’s rendering to take up to 8 hours to complete. Not all users will have instant access to Hyperscape Capture, as it’s being rolled out gradually.
Kelli’s happy space Indeed, Kelli’s room sparkles with her colorful Crocs shoe collection. This highlights the ways technology can rich and immersive way to document and re-imagine personal spaces.
For a limited time, a 3D clip of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will be available, further enhancing the content offerings within Meta’s immersive environment.
