Peter Attia Steps Down from David Protein as Focus Shifts to Biograph

Peter Attia, a Canadian American physician known for his work in longevity and preventive health. He has since left that position and as it turned out, the Chief Science Officer position at the food startup David Protein. His departure follows a significant funding milestone for the company, which raised $75 million in a Series A funding round led by Greenoaks in May 2025.

Prior to launching Attia co-founded Biograph, a healthcare testing and longevity startup. Today, he’s calling upon that same entrepreneurial spirit with his new joint venture alongside fellow entrepreneur John Hering. Biograph came out of stealth mode a year ago. Today, it provides concierge (or direct primary care) preventive health services to its subscribers, with annual fees ranging from $7,500 to $15,000. This shift is notable given Attia’s rising prominence in the field of longevity, further underscored by his bestselling book, “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity,” and his podcast that explores optimization strategies for health.

During his time with David Protein, Attia was an early investor and instrumental in steering the company on an executive team. His contributions have been pivotal as the company aims to revolutionize the food industry. Read more about Attia’s remarkable career accomplishments in his impressive nomination. His ongoing influence on David Protein was dealt a severe blow due to his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. His name appears in over 1,700 records associated with Epstein. Attia is adamant that he is not a criminal, having never gone to Epstein’s island or flown on his private plane.

Attia’s career has graced a recent appointment as a CBS contributor starting May 2026. This appointment marks a new chapter of his leadership and engagement in the national conversation about the future of our collective health and well-being. He’s recently turned most of his attention back to Biograph. Industry observers are no doubt looking to see how his vision for the future of preventive health services takes shape.
