In fact, Stellantis, the parent company of Ram, recently signaled a historic turn in its product strategy toward electric vehicles. The company announced that it will discontinue development of a battery-electric full-size pickup truck. The newly renamed Ram 1500 REV will be one of the exceptions going forward. This decision appears to be occurring against the backdrop of a dramatic slowdown in demand for full-size battery-electric trucks in North America.
The Ram 1500 REV, previously known as the Ramcharger, is the most advanced REEV-powered vehicle. Its goal has—to use a football term—been to raise the game of its competitors in the half-ton pickup space. The vehicle is positioned as part of Stellantis’s ambitious plan to introduce over 25 all-new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by the end of the decade.
Most recently, Stellantis delayed the arrival of the Ram 1500 REV to late 2024. That said, they’re absolutely focused on getting outstanding features into this new model. The forthcoming pickup will be capable of class-leading range, increased towing capacity and go-to payload performance. The Ram 1500 REV will include a longer cabin design with third-row jump seats, catering to families and those needing extra space.
The vehicle will be available with two long-range, large-battery-pack options. This provides consumers with options tailored exactly to their needs. Additionally, the Ram 1500 REV will be integrated with advanced technology, making it a competitive option in today’s evolving automotive market.
