TikTok Enhances Platform with New Features for Songwriters

Just this past week, TikTok launched new tools to empower songwriters. We’re excited to help them share what they’ve accomplished more easily and compellingly than ever before! The social media company recently announced a new beta test of a “Songwriter” label. Writers will now be able to use this new feature to display their musical creations and increase their visibility throughout the app.

TikTok is partnering up with the Songwriter label to bring a more robust user profiles to TikTok. Specifically, they will be launching a new tab focused entirely on songwriters. This feature gives artists a once-in-a-career opportunity to display their original musical creations front and center. Thus, audiences and executives alike have the opportunity to find and appreciate their brilliance.

As an independent survey commissioned by TikTok recently found, over 50% of songwriters use social media. They use these platforms to increase their reach and engagement with their audiences. This further highlights the platform’s importance, not only as a space for music distribution but as an essential place for artists to gain traction and connect with fans.

TikTok has made itself the #1 venue for songwriters to build their careers. Earlier this year, it launched the TikTok for Artists tool, which allows artists to monitor the performance of their campaigns and tracks. This pilot program is the first step in TikTok’s larger vision to enrich the platform with helpful resources and education that empower music creators.

“We are passionately committed to supporting songwriters at TikTok, which is why we built these tools to celebrate and elevate songwriters and their work on our platform,” – TikTok’s Global Head of Music Publishing Licensing and Partnerships.

The implementation of these new features comes amid growing competition within the music industry to express support for songwriters. For example, Tidal introduced a tool last year aimed at helping songwriters track their royalties and manage their credits effectively. These type of advancements indicate an increasing acknowledgement of the crucial role songwriters play in the broader music ecosystem.

It’s as TikTok grows and evolves its platform that its commitment to the songwriter experience truly shines through. By offering artists exclusive tools that help showcase their artistry, TikTok wants to create a friendlier community for creative artists.
