World Unveils Enhanced App with Crypto and Encrypted Chat Features

World, a digital platform developed by Tools for Humanity and launched in 2019, recently released an upgraded version of its app. This updated release adds support for cryptocurrency payment options and encrypted chat capabilities! Originally introduced in 2023, the app aims to provide users with innovative tools to establish a digital “proof of human” identity, effectively distinguishing real individuals from bots in the digital landscape.

We recently launched an updated version of the app. It increases user engagement by increasing the fun factor, injecting a new chat-based format that’s uniquely interactive. This new addition fits right in with World’s mission to lead the way for broader adoption of its platform through social-friendly features. Tiago Sada, a spokesperson for World, noted,

“What we kept hearing from people is that they wanted a more social World app.”

Sam Altman, highlighted the challenges of creating a verification system that respects user privacy while ensuring unique identification. He stated,

“It’s really hard to both identify unique people and do that in a privacy-preserving way.”

World addresses these issues by implementing a verification network based on web3 ideals. This method is designed to increase user security and privacy. The platform’s proprietary digital payment system makes it easy for users to send or receive cryptocurrencies of any kind. It includes a Venmo Me-style functionality for sending and receiving crypto payments to and from other users.

Along with the app improvements, Tools for Humanity introduced the Orb Minis back in April. These portable devices allow patients to scan their own eyes from the comfort of their home. This new innovation leaps toward that mission of creating a robust verification solution for all. By incorporating this technology into the World ecosystem, we hope to simplify the identity verification process without invading users’ privacy.

From day one, World has taken on the challenge of building a new economic model that creates safe, private, digital interactions. Altman and his team are committed to improving this model. Beyond that, they hope to make sure it adapts to the needs of our fast-changing digital society.

After releasing the chat feature’s original beta version back in March, this more significant update clears the way for a more complete upgrade to come. The app’s evolution is indicative of a broader endeavor to develop tools that equip users with actionable information while prioritizing important privacy concerns. With these changes, World hopes to better establish itself in the market and attract a bigger user base.
