Young Minds App Aims to Safeguard Children Online at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025

Young Minds is a free new app that helps protect and educate kids online. It will be displaying its cutting edge technology at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, taking place October 27-29 in San Francisco. The app was created by Nino Dvalidze, a former United Kingdom-based entrepreneur and mother of two. Above all it aims to create a safer digital environment for children. Get it here on Android, with the iPhone version scheduled to debut next week.

The Young Minds app employs artificial intelligence to monitor child tablet/phone use in real time. Most importantly, it proactively detects and flags potentially harmful content to protect young users. Dvalidze emphasizes the importance of safeguarding children from inappropriate material, stating, “We need to make sure that nothing that is not intended for the young eyes can reach them.” We built the app with careful attention to user privacy, including an explicit guarantee that the app never saves any data from users unless they agree to it.

Young Minds consists of two distinct versions: a parent app and a children’s app. Parents can customize the app’s settings to establish routines and modes tailored to their child’s needs. When in “study mode,” you can only use it with educational apps such as Duolingo. At the same time, its “wind down mode” restricts usage of apps that might disrupt your sleep.

Dvalidze admits that the iOS version will be different in a few respects. This is possible because of Apple’s restrictions on getting data from other apps. She promises them that “workarounds” will be rushed in to keep the operation going.

Dvalidze explains that “we’re doing safety as the bare minimum baseline. This simple principle has underpinned the development of Young Minds, which aims to provide a safe online environment where children can be kids.

Dvalidze will headline TechCrunch Disrupt 2025. The event is a chance to discover dozens of other innovative, inspiring startups and visionary guest speakers on four bustling stages. The event will be an incredible opportunity for Young Minds. They’ll be highlighting their efforts to prove they’re doing right by kids in the online world.
