Carlton have delisted Adam Saad after six years, making the veteran defender the club’s 13th departure in its list overhaul. He is the 11th player delisted, while two others have left through trades.

Saad, 32, made 110 appearances for the Blues and received All-Australian honours in 2022. His senior opportunities were limited to three games this season, each during Michael Voss’s time as coach.

Before joining Carlton, Saad had three-year spells with both Gold Coast and Essendon. His AFL career tally stands at 219 games.

Saad said he was grateful for his Carlton experience and the friendships he had formed, and would consider his next step. He also thanked supporters for welcoming him and said the crowd’s “woof” chant had become special to him.

Carlton football boss Chris Davies praised Saad’s rebounding from defence, professionalism and support for younger teammates. Davies also recognised his community work through Adam Saad Pathways.

The Blues’ other departures include Hudson O’Keeffe, traded to the Western Bulldogs, and Flynn Riley, traded to Collingwood.

St Kilda have also cut former Carlton player Jack Carroll following two seasons and 15 appearances. He played the first 12 games of this season for the Saints, having previously made 21 appearances across four years with the Blues.

At Brisbane, Darragh Joyce and Luke Beecken are leaving. The Lions will also delist Luke Lloyd and Koby Evans, but plan to select both again through the rookie draft next month.
