Australia have named David Fifita, Sam Walker, Blayke Brailey and Bradman Best for their first Kangaroos appearances in the World Cup fixture against Fiji at Suncorp Stadium.

Fifita, 26, will partner Reuben Cotter in the back row. The South Sydney forward represented Tonga in four Tests during the 2022 World Cup and recently led Australia’s Prime Minister’s XIII to a 60-10 win against PNG’s side.

Walker takes over at halfback after Mitchell Moses suffered a tournament-ending leg injury during Australia’s 24-22 victory against New Zealand. Walker’s selection follows a premiership season with the Sydney Roosters and his State of Origin debut for Queensland. Cronulla’s Brailey has been picked at hooker, with Newcastle’s Best at centre.

James Tedesco returns to the Australian side after a three-year absence, taking the fullback position and captaincy while regular captain Isaah Yeo is rested. Reece Walsh has been named at No.18 among the extended reserves.

There are also changes elsewhere in the starting forwards. Keaon Koloamatangi and Lindsay Smith have been selected as props, while Cameron Murray takes the No.13 role after playing from the bench against New Zealand.
