Mitchell returns to Kangaroos World Cup squad as Cobbo misses out
Isaah Yeo will delay surgery to captain Australia, while James Tedesco and Reece Walsh are competing for the fullback role.

Kevin Walters has included Latrell Mitchell in Australia’s Rugby League World Cup squad, with Selwyn Cobbo missing selection. Isaah Yeo will lead the Kangaroos, whose opening match is against New Zealand.
Mitchell returns after missing last year’s Ashes series. Walters said his discussions with Mitchell over the past 16 months had been positive and the player was looking forward to representing Australia again.
Yeo will postpone surgery for a ruptured pec. He said he believed he could contribute and meet the standard required at international level. Liam Martin is the only Panthers teammate joining him in the squad.
James Tedesco and Reece Walsh are contenders for fullback. With injury ruling Nathan Cleary out, Walters has selected Tom Dearden, Cameron Munster, Sam Walker and Mitchell Moses as options for the halves. The coach said Walsh was ready to play following discussions with him and Broncos medical staff.
Blayke Brailey has been chosen ahead of Reece Robson as the second hooker behind Harry Grant. Tom Trbojevic is also included and is being considered for a place on the wing.
Walters selected the squad alongside Cameron Smith, Boyd Cordner, Darren Lockyer and Andrew Johns. He will leave the Kangaroos to take charge of Super League club St Helens next year.
