St Kilda emerge as likely destination for Jake Stringer
The 32-year-old forward kicked 48 goals for GWS in 2026 but was not offered another contract.

Jake Stringer appears likely to continue his AFL career with St Kilda in 2027 after discussions between the forward and the club intensified over 72 hours. The Saints are believed to be working through details, with a formal offer considered likely.
Stringer, 32, struggled to find a club during the trade period after GWS decided against offering him another contract. A move to St Kilda would give the 250-gamer his fourth AFL club, following the Western Bulldogs, Essendon and GWS.
A meeting with new Essendon coach Mark McVeigh had raised hopes in Stringer’s camp of a return to the Bombers. Essendon subsequently said the discussion was broad rather than a pitch for a contract. McVeigh’s cousin is married to Stringer.
Selected by the Bulldogs at No.5 in the 2012 draft, Stringer played 89 games across five years there and was part of their 2016 premiership side. He joined Essendon ahead of 2018 and won its goalkicking award three times. Stringer wants to play on but is prepared to move on if no opportunity eventuates.
