Cameron Green declares himself fit for Cape Town Test
The allrounder has recovered from an abdomen injury, while Matt Renshaw faced an extended spell against the new ball at training.

Cameron Green says he is fit for Australia’s deciding Test against South Africa in Cape Town after an abdomen injury, having spent more than an hour batting during an optional training session at Newlands.
The 27-year-old was among five Australians who attended the session. He also bowled, although his expected role on returning is as a specialist batter. Green injured his abdomen during an ODI, two balls after being struck in the groin, and said he believed the incidents were connected.
Australia’s batting positions remain unsettled. Matt Renshaw spent an extended period practising against the new ball and is an opening option if Nic Maddinson is omitted. That could allow Green to bat at No.5, where he made a century against Bangladesh in August.
Green said No.4 and No.5 suited him, but he was willing to change positions to meet the team’s needs. Renshaw made 190 and 81 from No.5 in the opening Test of the South Africa series.
Green’s Bangladesh scores of 104 and 67 followed 11 Test innings without a half-century. He said making 135 in his final Sheffield Shield match last season had helped him rediscover a more natural approach. Over the past nine months, he has worked towards a more side-on, balanced stance and reduced his range of shots.
