Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee has travelled to England for specialist help with his hamstring recovery, more than 200 days after the injury that ended his season.

The 26-year-old was injured in Round 2 and missed the rest of the season. A nerve problem was identified in June, prolonging his recovery following surgery.

High-performance boss Tim Parham, who formerly worked for Arsenal, has accompanied the two-time All-Australian to the UK. Port Adelaide remain confident Rozee will recover fully and return for pre-season training.

Commentator and former AFL player Kane Cornes expressed concern about the length of the recovery, saying he believed the injury was not healing properly.

Rozee offered a more positive assessment in an interview, saying he was close to sprinting and would be able to join some drills if training were under way. He said most specialists he had consulted expected him to regain almost full fitness, although the timing remained uncertain. His focus was on rebuilding muscle strength before resuming regular running and training.
