Geelong sets scoring record ahead of Melbourne qualifying final
The Cats finished second on percentage after an 11-1 season, with co-captain Nina Morrison saying the improvement reflects the squad's existing potential.

Geelong will meet Melbourne at Princes Park in an AFLW qualifying final after setting a competition record for regular-season scoring. Coached by Mick Stinear, the Cats posted an 11-1 record, with percentage separating them from ladder leader North Melbourne.
Co-captain Nina Morrison said the squad's progress was not unexpected. She had believed Geelong could perform better during its disappointing past couple of seasons and said the players were now combining strengths they already possessed.
Georgie Prespakis has contributed averages of 30.6 disposals, 8.1 clearances and eight score involvements. The midfielder, 23, was runner-up for the AFLW's 2025 best and fairest award.
Morrison credited Prespakis's off-field mental preparation and said she was managing the changing course of matches better. She also highlighted the midfielder's ability to involve teammates.
The final marks Stinear's first encounter with Melbourne as Geelong coach, while Morrison is due to make her 75th appearance. Morrison said his familiarity with his former club might provide some insights, but Geelong would concentrate on its own game.
A dirt bike event booking at Kardinia Park means the Cats will play at Princes Park rather than their home ground. Morrison said the venue switch was not a concern for the players.
