Cameron Munster says he wants to continue playing for Melbourne but has yet to agree on an extension, with the 32-year-old approaching free agency on 1 November for the first time.

The Storm playmaker has reportedly rejected an offer worth A$750,000 per season. His existing deal runs until the end of 2027, and he currently receives A$1.1 million a year.

Munster said he remained grateful to Melbourne and hoped the two sides could reach an agreement. He has previously considered rival clubs, including turning down an offer from the Dolphins before they joined the competition, but has stayed with the Storm.

A Queensland return also appeals to the Rockhampton junior, who said he enjoyed the state's weather. He indicated Sydney was not a preferred destination, joking that living there would bring reporters to his doorstep every week.

The 256-game veteran missed the finals in 2026 for the first time in his career as Melbourne's run of 15 years of post-season appearances ended.

Munster said the coming World Cup would be his last. After acknowledging a disappointing NRL season, he said he wanted his performances for Australia to justify the Kangaroos selectors' decision to pick him.
