Australia have left Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood out of their squads to face England in three ODIs and five T20 internationals, giving the fast bowlers a break before a demanding Test schedule.

Chair of selectors George Bailey said players competing across formats faced limited preparation time between the South Africa tour, the England matches and the New Zealand Tests. He said individual plans would address players’ physical and mental preparation before the New Zealand series.

WA fast bowler Mahli Beardman will play his first ODI after one T20 appearance for Australia. Bailey praised his Australia A performances and said selectors believed he could develop across all formats. Mitchell Marsh will captain both squads, with Jack Edwards also selected for each series.

Spencer Johnson and Liam Scott have been recalled for the ODIs. Nathan Ellis has not recovered from a side strain in time for that series, but has been included for the T20s.

Jake Fraser-McGurk returns to the T20 squad for the first time since 2025, while NSW batter Lachlan Shaw earns his first selection following performances for Australia A in India and in the BBL. Tim David, recently named Australian T20 player of the year, is also in the squad.
