De Minaur beaten by Alcaraz in Vienna Open final
The Australian is set to rise from No.10 to No.8 in the world before heading to Paris for the last ATP Finals qualifying tournament.

Alex de Minaur remains without a win against Carlos Alcaraz after the Spaniard defeated him 6-1 6-4 in the Vienna Open final, their seventh meeting.
The Australian reached his third final of the year after beating new world No.1 Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. It was de Minaur’s first victory over the German outside a team competition.
De Minaur next heads to the Paris Masters, the final qualifying tournament for the ATP Finals in Turin. He currently occupies the eighth and last qualifying position and will climb from No.10 to No.8 in the world rankings.
Alcaraz broke de Minaur’s serve in the opening game and added another break to build a 4-0 advantage. The Australian offered more resistance in the second set, saving a break point while trailing 3-4, but could not force a deciding set.
The victory gave Alcaraz his fourth title this season and his 28th overall. The 23-year-old completed the tournament without losing a set.
Afterwards, de Minaur said he was proud to still be fighting and hoped to extend his season. Alcaraz praised the Australian’s speed, saying it made points difficult to finish.
