De Goey and Houston to remain at Collingwood after trade deadline
The Magpies added Lachie Neale, Jesse Hogan and Flynn Riley during the trade and free agency window but missed out on Richmond defender Jayden Short.

Jordan De Goey and Dan Houston will play for Collingwood in 2027 after the AFL trade deadline passed without either player moving clubs. Magpies list manager Justin Leppitsch confirmed De Goey would stay and again rejected suggestions Houston had been available for a trade.
In an interview, Leppitsch used the word “unfortunately” when confirming no deal involving De Goey had eventuated. He then described the midfielder’s retention positively, saying Collingwood had strengthened its list while holding on to existing players.
Leppitsch said discussions with other clubs about De Goey had involved goodwill. He suggested the 30-year-old’s unrestricted free agency status in 2027 may have influenced clubs hoping to recruit him without a trade next season.
Houston has another four years on his contract. Leppitsch said neither Collingwood nor Houston’s management had been approached about a move, and the club had reassured the player it wanted him to stay.
Collingwood recruited Lachie Neale, Jesse Hogan and Flynn Riley during the trade and free agency window. Richmond refused Jayden Short’s request to join the Magpies.
