Dean Solomon rejoins Gold Coast as assistant coach
The former Essendon interim coach returns to the Suns after previously spending 10 years at the club.

Gold Coast has appointed Dean Solomon as an assistant coach under Damien Hardwick, bringing the former Essendon caretaker back to the club where he coached between 2011 and 2020.
Solomon, 46, briefly held the Suns’ senior role on an interim basis during that earlier spell. His subsequent career included time at GWS, followed by a position on Essendon’s board before he returned to coaching with the Bombers.
After Brad Scott was sacked, Solomon took charge of Essendon for 12 games, recording one win. He chose not to pursue the permanent senior job, which went to Mark McVeigh.
Although he initially expressed interest in staying at Essendon in any capacity, Solomon left after the season to rejoin his family on the Gold Coast. He said the appointment offered the chance to learn from Hardwick while being with his wife and children.
Suns football general manager Craig Cameron welcomed Solomon’s return and said the club would confirm details of its coaching structure for 2027.
