Walters weighs fullback choice after Tedesco helps Australia beat Fiji
James Tedesco set up three tries in the Kangaroos’ 36-22 win, leaving coach Kevin Walters to choose between his captain and Reece Walsh.

James Tedesco helped Australia defeat Fiji 36-22 at Suncorp Stadium, but coach Kevin Walters has yet to settle on his fullback for the Kangaroos’ semi-final at Allianz Stadium on 8 November.
The Australian captain supplied three try assists and contributed to two more of the team’s six tries. His performance followed Reece Walsh’s contribution to Australia’s opening 24-22 victory over New Zealand, in which Jack Bostock scored three tries.
Walters said both fullbacks had been among Australia’s best performers in their respective appearances. He said discussions were still needed about selection, with the Kangaroos facing Cook Islands in Townsville before the semi-final.
Tedesco said he did not know whether another starting position was available to him. Although fullback was his preference, he was willing to play wherever Walters needed him.
Walters also called for improvement across the squad after the Fiji match. He said Australia had played well only in patches and the players recognised they could perform better.
