Waller plans Oaks campaign for Your Colour and Tharwa
The two fillies are set to contest the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes at Flemington before a planned move to the Group 1 VRC Oaks.
Chris Waller plans to send Your Colour and Tharwa to the VRC Oaks, with both fillies due to run first in the 2,000-metre Wakeful Stakes at Flemington.
The trainer has also entered De Armas in the Group 2 lead-up but said her campaign might end after that race. De Armas has already recorded a Group 1 placing.
Your Colour finished second in the Ethereal at Caulfield on her latest outing, while Tharwa was fourth. Waller said both had wide draws and Tharwa covered extra ground around the field before finishing strongly.
Waller said the pair had been prepared without being rushed, pointing to their experience over 2,000 metres in the Ethereal as important preparation for the 2,500-metre Oaks. The Group 1 contest is for three-year-old fillies.
Waller's first runner in the Oaks was The Pearls, who finished second behind Strictly Business. She has not raced since that appearance.
