Chris Fagan starts director of coaching role at Carlton
The former Brisbane coach will work with Carlton’s coaches and young players as the Blues seek more regular finals appearances.

Chris Fagan has begun work as Carlton’s director of coaching at Ikon Park, saying his early impressions of the players and coach Josh Fraser have been positive.
The former Brisbane coach said Carlton’s players were eager to improve and return to regular finals appearances. He said that ambition matched what he wanted from the club he joined.
Fagan had seen Carlton’s capabilities from the opposition coaching box in Round 21, when the Blues beat his Lions by 76 points. Brisbane subsequently recovered to claim their third consecutive premiership.
Reflecting on his initial dealings with Fraser, Fagan pointed to the young coach’s varied experience and described him as level-headed. Fagan noted that his own first opportunity to coach at AFL level came when he was 55.
His new position involves working closely with Carlton’s coaching staff and younger players as the club pursues sustained finals success.
