Cindy Hook announces departure from Brisbane 2032 leadership
The organising committee will start recruiting immediately and expects to name a new chief executive in the coming months.

Brisbane 2032 chief executive Cindy Hook will step down when her four-year contract finishes, with the Olympic and Paralympic organising committee preparing to recruit her successor. Her departure is due in early 2027, as preparations move towards operational delivery and venues are under construction.
The committee said recruitment would start immediately, with an appointment anticipated over the coming months. Hook, who took the role in December 2022, said she had met her objectives for the first stage of planning and considered it an appropriate point to pass responsibility to someone else.
Brisbane Olympics president Andrew Liveris said Hook had built up the organisation from its start-up phase, recruited its team and put financial controls and governance procedures in place. When she was appointed in 2022, Liveris had expressed the board's hope that she would stay through to the Games.
Queensland sports and Olympics minister Tim Mander thanked Hook in state parliament, saying the focus was shifting towards procurement and operational readiness. Federal sports minister Annika Wells also recognised her contribution and said preparations would build on what she had achieved.
