Melbourne Renegades claimed their first victory of the WBBL tournament after a no-ball ruling on the final delivery gave them a four-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes in Hobart.

The teams were level on 154 when Deandra Dottin missed the last delivery. Players were preparing for a super over, but a review for a possible stumping showed Hobart wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee had gathered the ball ahead of the stumps. The resulting no-ball supplied Melbourne’s winning run.

Hobart had made 7-154, with captain Nicola Carey contributing 62 from 43 balls and Chinelle Henry adding 36 from 18. Renegades captain Sophie Molineux finished with 4-22.

Hayley Matthews led Melbourne’s chase with 59 from 44 balls, including eight boundaries. She and Courtney Webb, who scored 29 from 25, helped the visitors reach 1-101 during the 13th over before a collapse left them at 4-108 within 12 balls.

Melbourne needed five from three deliveries when Hobart were restricted to two fielders beyond the circle for failing to complete their overs within the allotted time. After a dot ball, Dottin edged a boundary to deep third man to level the scores.

Hobart remained bottom of the ladder without a win after three games. Henry also left the field with a suspected hip injury after her only over went for 14 runs.
