Queensland boxer Jake Wyllie exceeded the 61kg lightweight limit by more than two kilograms at the weigh-in for his Sydney bout against Ahmad Reda, who said he would fight despite the breach.

Reda, 23, enters the scheduled 10-round contest unbeaten with a 9-0 record. The Sydney-based fighter said Wyllie should not be paid after failing to make weight and accused him of seeking a way out of the contest.

An agreement between the camps permits Wyllie to gain only another 10 pounds (4.5kg) before entering the ring. Their bout is on the main card of the event featuring heavyweights Paul Gallen and Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

Promoter George Rose criticised Wyllie’s conduct as unprofessional and disappointing. He said he wanted a fair contest and an opportunity for Reda to demonstrate his standing in the division.

Wyllie has recorded 19 wins. His most recent defeat was a decision loss to former lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr in 2025. He declined interviews following the weigh-in.
