Australian Unity has appointed Mark Potter as group executive of technology, with the former Optus CIO beginning the role on 2 November. He takes over from Mark Gay following his retirement.
The mutual company, whose interests include insurance, wealth and retirement, disclosed Potter’s appointment in an ASX filing. Australian Unity said he brought more than three decades of technology experience spanning banking, financial services, consulting and telecommunications.
Potter left Optus in April after four-and-a-half years heading its IT operations. His earlier career included more than 16 years at CBA, where he held the CIO position for institutional and business banking.
The move brings Potter back together with Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, the former Optus boss who also joined Australian Unity.
Gay’s responsibilities covered technology, digital and transformation. In a LinkedIn post, he said he planned to take time out after 17 years working as a CTO, CIO and group executive.
