North Melbourne’s Paul Curtis has responded to Sydney player Tom Papley on social media following Nick Blakey’s trade to the Kangaroos. The deal included Pick 6, a first-round selection in 2028 and a second-round selection in 2027.

Papley left a popcorn emoji on North Melbourne’s social media pages after the clubs agreed to the move. He also shared an Instagram story showing himself celebrating a win with Blakey and asked AFL CEO Andrew Dillon to publish the fixture.

Curtis tagged Papley in a reply that accused the veteran Swan of “main character syndrome”. Football podcaster Dan Gorringe subsequently called for the pair to be matched against each other when their teams meet.

Before the agreement, Papley had also commented on a reported St Kilda offer of three first-round draft picks for Blakey. Responding to Gorringe’s criticism of that proposed offer, Papley described it as “overs”.
